The ghost wins a majority decision. He closed the tenth round with big shots that wobbled lopez.

there is a lot of tying up and fighting off of clinches. in round i pavlik begins to throw loose combinations that repeatedly connect. lopez continues to tie up and clinche at every opportunity.

May 7, 2011. ROUND 2, 3 4.

round two pavlik lands big shots. round three lopez gets aggressive but pavlik muffles his attack. round four lopez employs desperate in close tactics and the fight becomes a lot of trench warfare. round five the two boxers return to boxing at a range with minimal tying and lopez begins to move around the ring. pavlik gets him on tthe ropes and lands a few shots referee breaks them up. the round ends with an exchange of punches.

It's a brutal sport. If early in your career you lose a single fight then it could ruin your career. In Pavlik's case, he won and kept winning. All the while, nobody noticed. A year and half before he won his titles he was washing dishes and mowing lawns to pay the bills. Nobody noticed. Then when he won the title he gained a lot of attention but also a lot of scrutiny.
